Space

A moon you can sit next to

Deep blue velvet walls, a ceiling of stars that carries on across the whole room, and a moon the height of a person lit from behind. A neon sign reads “you space”. The seating is a curved velvet bench with a glowing edge, plus bean bags on a thick pale carpet, and the projection runs along the wall like the surface of a planet. The darkest, softest room at this address.

Classic

Daylight, arches and a gold chandelier

Tall arched windows, plaster mouldings, columns and a chandelier of amber glass over a marble floor. Two grey velvet Chesterfields face each other, and there is a long oval dining table with burgundy chairs at the far end. The one room here that is bright, which makes it the one people book for daytime celebrations and for dinners that end in a film.

Garden

An enchanted forest with a swing in it

A painted forest full of fireflies covers the projection wall, ivy climbs everything else, and a chandelier of glass rings and paper butterflies hangs from a painted sky ceiling. Green velvet sofas, a swing seat, a chess table, a birdcage. Children are quietly amazed by it and so, usually, are their parents.

Gatsby

Art deco, and it means it

Sculpted plaster that curves like a tree trunk, backlit deco panels in gold and silver, a crystal chandelier, marble floor and a long green bar with black stools. A deep green sofa curls in front of the screen. This is the room we set up when someone says “make it look expensive”, and it does the job without being asked twice.

Hawaii

February, cancelled

A beach on three walls, palm leaves over a brick wall painted the colour of sand, rattan lampshades and a cluster of mirror balls on a black ceiling. A long red sofa with turquoise and mustard cushions, deck chairs with Secret printed on them, life rings on the wall and a neon sign reading Secret Hawaii. Absurd, cheerful, and the most photographed room we own.

Dark

Moss, green glass and almost no light

A textured black wall run through with living moss, three tiers of green glass chandelier, a black marble floor with a pink neon line traced across it and blinds that glow like a window at dusk. Black velvet seating, green cushions, one small round table. The room for thrillers, for horror nights, and for people who want to be left completely alone.

Not sure which

Tell us the occasion, we’ll pick the room.

Two people who want to disappear go in Space or Dark. A daytime celebration goes in Classic. A birthday with children goes in Garden. Gatsby is for the dinner that turns into a film, and Hawaii is for the middle of February.
